HOLDRUM CREATES WALL OF HONOR FOR
SOLDIERS OVERSEAS
River Vale, NJ,
Those
definitions -- students finishing the phrase “Peace is...” -- will be turned into a poem that will
be posted on the new “Wall of Honor” the school is creating. The names of
students’ relatives and others serving overseas will also be posted on the
Wall. Language arts teachers are working with students on the project.
“We
saw this as a need to bring the students together,” said Holdrum
guidance counselor Maureen Monaghan, who helped come up with the idea for the
Wall of Honor along with Principal Phyllis Prestia. “The kids have all been
very excited about what we are doing here at the school. They want to do
something to help during these difficult times. Bring everybody home safely --
that’s the focus.”
Two
eighth grade Holdrum students recently hung yellow
ribbons in support of soldiers outside the school. Both teens have relatives
serving in
