Four Towerific Teams shared their towers in an interschool Invengineering exhibition at the Norwood Public School.  As part of the SAGE program, under the direction of Mrs. Meryl Wolf at Woodside and Mrs. Maria Sommer at Roberge, The FBI (Future Building Industries), Woody’s Wonderful Wood Workers, T.O.N.S. (Tom, Onji, Nicole and Steven) Tower, and the  A-Team each designed and built a balsa wood tower to meet specifications.  Though the goal of the project was to create a model tower to be destructively tested for efficiency (force or load divided by weight or mass), students were also required to keep a logbook and/or photo journal, submit a top and side view of their tower, and prepare a ninety second presentation.  These creative students not only learned to work as a team, compromising and meeting goals while being subject to material and time constraints, they also designed their own T-shirts and/or created power point presentations.  Digital photography skills were honed as students made a power point presentation or downloaded and printed photos to document their efforts.  Ten teams shared their structures which ranged in efficiency from 10 to 43.  A score of 40 or above earned a gold certificate, 30 or above fell into the silver category, and below that was bronze.  Woody’s Wonderful Wood Workers was the only team to achieve the gold standard.  The FBI, T.O.N.S. Tower, and  the A-Team received a silver certificate.  Everyone learned that TEAMS must work together. Together Everyone Achieves More Success!
