Q. What is River Vale Mail?

River Vale Mail is an email service provided by the schools to send you announcements from the schools, the PTA, the Board of Education and other township organizations. Beginning in September 2002, all announcements sent home with students will also be distributed online with River Vale Mail.

It also is used to send School Closing information on days when a decision has been made to close the schools. Anyone with an email address can sign up for this free service.

Q. How can I contact a teacher?

You can leave a voice mail message for any teacher by calling the main office for each school, and then by spelling out their name on the telephone keypad.

Q. Where can I learn more about before and after school programs?

The YWCA of Bergen County operates a Before School Program, an After Kindergarten Program (September and October only), and an After School Program in both the Roberge and Woodside Schools. A variety of recreational activities are offered including arts and crafts, organized games and sports, movie days, free play, outdoor play, clubs, and cooking projects. Children are also provided with a quiet space and time for homework, if needed.

Three different programs are offered:

  • Before School Program – 7:30am – 8:40am.
  • After Kindergarten Program – 12:30pm – 3:00pm (A minimum of five children per day must be registered)
  • After School Program – 2:40pm – 7:00pm (12:45pm – 7:00pm on minimum days)

Vacation day care, 7:00am – 7:00pm, is held in Saddle River on some vacation days.

The YWCA of Bergen County is a non-profit organization serving the needs of working parents throughout Bergen County. For more information please call Melissa Ursich, Assistant Director of Programs at (201) 881-1728.
