                                                    SPECIAL PUBLIC MEETING

                                                          Holdrum Middle School

                                                       Tuesday, September 4, 2001

                                                                      7:00 PM.

 

                                                                   - MINUTES-

 

President Ammerman called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231 and the Laws of 1975, notice was hereby given that advance public notice was forwarded to all officially designated individuals, newspapers, filed with the Township Clerk and posted at the Office of the Board of Education.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:       Mrs. Sheryl Eaton, Mr. Bill Ellis, Mrs. Bettyanne McGuire,

Dr. Jeffrey Matfus, Mr. Mike Ratner, Mr. Bert Ammerman

                                                Mr. Dave Zornow arrived at 7:04 PM

                                                                       

ALSO PRESENT:                 Dr. Frank Alvarez, Superintendent of Schools

                                                Mr. Michael Rinderknecht, Business Administrator

                                                              

The board and members of the public saluted the flag.

 

DISCUSSION:           Establishment of Board Goals         

 

Dr. Matfus distributed a multi-page document relating to NJ Statute and the establishment of Board Goals.

 

Mr. Ratner spoke as to why he felt the Board Retreat and the establishment of Board Goals is an important task of the Board.

 

Mrs. McGuire commented about the numerous issues, which the Board has effectively dealt with in this past year to include district personnel changes and the passage of the district’s Bond Referendum.

 

The following Board Goals were established during the course of the meeting:

 

1.                  Establishment of a K-8 Curriculum Coordinator for the Pascack Valley Region Sending Districts to be in place by September 2002. The aforementioned costs to be shared by each respective district.

2.                  Continued maintenance of the district’s school facilities.

3.                  Increase Board/Community communications through various avenues.

4.                  Continue to promote uniform standards at both the Roberge and Woodside Schools.

5.                  Successful transition as it relates to the implementation of the district’s referendum.

Education be adjourned at 8:52 p.m.
