Stone Fox

We have been reading a wonderful story about a boy and his love for his grandfather and his dog. You will be completing tasks to learn more about some of the literary components of this story. Make sure to read each task completely before you begin. Enjoy your quest!

EXTRA TIME ACTIVITIES

Task 1:

Stone Fox's setting is in Wyoming. Your first task is to research the state of Wyoming. Here you will learn many facts about the state.  Please notice where the city of Jackson is located.  At the WBC Kid's Page select the Photo Gallery. You may then pick a category to view. The photos of that topic will appear. Use the Next button to view the picture and read about it. Notice the map in the lower right corner. The red shaded area shows where the item in the picture is found in Wyoming. Take your time and look at all the pictures. Using the “Wyoming Fact Page” (on the back table) to record some of the findings. Be sure to include at least 5 complete sentences about the state. Also, which places would you like to visit in Wyoming and Why?

Task 2:

Willy lives on a potato farm. When his grandfather gets ill and can't harvest the potatoes, Willy decides to complete this job all by himself. Research the history of potatoes. Read about potatoes and learn what is needed to produce a harvest. Your task is to write a How-To booklet (on the back table) that describes the process. Include a title and your name along with a picture of a potato on the front cover. The back cover should include 4-5 interesting facts about potatoes and their history. When you have finished this task, read what you wrote and make sure that it makes sense. Check your punctuation and spelling, too. Be sure to include an illustration for each step.
