At this time of
year most of us are celebrating one or more holidays. Since we are experts on
what we already know, let’s learn about celebrations around the world!
In this WebQuest
you will learn about other cultures and how they celebrate their winter
holidays. With a partner you will be
“visiting” countries all over the world. You will discover their different
traditions, legends, songs and stories.

Task
You will
be matched with a partner and your job will be to
research a winter celebration. Your partner and you
will
work together to investigate a winter celebration. At the
end of the unit, you will present your findings to the
class.
You
need to find out:
In which country or countries is the holiday
celebrated?
What are some of the holiday’s traditions?
Are there any songs or stories shared during
this holiday celebration?
Are special foods eaten?
Is special clothing worn?
What decorations are used?
After
answering these questions, you will put together the information you have
gathered into a poster. You will then share it with the class.

~ Each team will be assigned a
winter celebration to research.
~ After the teacher has divided you
into teams of two, print out the list of questions and divide them up. You
should have three questions each.
~ Click on the appropriate
celebration, on the Resources
page, to find the information on your assigned winter celebration.
~ After you have answered all of
the questions you will create a poster. The poster should have pictures and
facts about your winter celebration.
~ You will present this poster
to the class and share what you have learned about this winter
celebration.

list of Questions.
